TORRE VELLA
Like many other towers, this building is a military one. Back in 1530, the Torre vella was constructed to protect the city from the attacks and lootings of the mercenaries. Today, it is used for a wholly different purpose and one that is not as aggressive as in the past. In 1991, Salou's municipal government founded the museum, which is also the location of the permanent exposition of the "Contemporary Tincture Municipal Museum". It is also a permanent exposition art gallery where year-round there is something going on, be it social, cultural, or artistic.

There s a gold yellowish stone building that is of significant importance to the city, as its very well kept gardens are always used for those traditional just married couples photographs. It is an impressive location, maintained and kept beautiful by the Salou municipal government.

CONTEMPORARY TINCTURE MUNICIPAL MUSEUM (Located inside Torre Vella)
You simply cannot go to Salou and not visit this remarkable building. The Torre Vella was converted into a museum, and this 16 th century building is now more attractive than ever. Even by itself it deserves a visit, and it has been able to fully adapt to its new role in the city's life. The first salon of the exposition is a clear example of the good job done to refurbish this splendid building. It is hard to miss, and here one can see the artwork done by some of the artists from many parts of the world. On the first floor of the exposition there are pictures of the city back in the 1960s. On the last salon are permanent expositions of all sorts.
We recommend you to have a visit of Torre Vella during nighttime, when the whole tower is illuminated and shows its best self. One more thing, entrance is free of charge!

(Masía Catalana) Carles Buigas Av.

This is probably the most well known type of construction over the whole Catalonia's territory. The typical rural house is the essence of the rural life, la "masia" is the typical farmer's house. Here one can see the real type of construction with the typical rooms needed and the real type of animals usually grown here. Also one can understand the way of the agricultural way of living by the kind of tools they need.

CITY PARK
(Parque de la Ciudad) Carles Buigas Av.

Not far away from the "Masía Catalana" is Salou city s municipal park. You can get to this place by way down toward the Font lluminosa and continue walking over the Carles Buigas Avenue. The park is the result of the municipal government s efforts to revamp this area into a public garden space. Landscaping and lovely greenery were planted, making it an ideal place for strolling or reading a book.

COMMERCIAL AREAS IN THE CITY, SHOPS
The great commercial buzz happening in Salou is concentrated mostly over the sea line Passeig Jaume I and around the Carles Buigas Avenue especially during the summer months.
However, Salou has many more different areas where business and merchandise abound. If you stand in front of the Club N and walk toward the city and over Barcelona Avenue, you will find a lot of the most modern shops of the city. Here, the products are less "touristic" and the shops are generally the ones catering to the locals.
Salou has almost 1,450 different shops, into 70 different commercial activities, 200 restaurants and some 21 banks all into 130,000 sq. meters of vibrant commercial area. After passing the train lines (still over the Barcelona Av.) you will find a small square. Next to this square, on the right side, is the Salou market. This street is called "Via Roma" and it is also a very busy commercial area. Both Barcelona and Vía Roma are the most important streets in Salou. Christmas and Carnival parades take place on either one of these streets.
You can contact telephone number 977 309 223 for information related to the location of shops in the city.
