Climate |
 |
The Costa Dorada enjoys a temperate Mediterranean climate characterized by a clear, sharp atmosphere and intensely blue skies in winter. This is brought about by the mestral winds that blow from the northeast and in summer, to the garbí, or south-easterly winds. These winds maintain the area s moisture level low, and blow away any fog or mist.
Average temperatures are around 7 to 10 C in winter and 20 to 26 in summer, bearing in mind that the average temperatures inland from the coast in the mountains are two to four degrees lower. During summer, the humidity is from 66 to 69%.
Most of the rainfall occurs during spring and autumn. However, brief but heavy showers are not infrequent in summer. Rainfall on the Costa Dorada averages between 375 and 700 mm per year. But, be forewarned that the rains in this area can be quite unpredictable and can reach up to 400 mm over just a couple of days, or even in a few hours. This can cause a disproportionate rise in the level of rivers.
With Costa Dorada experiencing relatively good weather all year round, vacation is always a pleasure here. On and off season, travel should be pleasant because the weather cooperates most of the time.
